I'm so sad. Some of you know I stayed in touch with Dave Saban (AKA Sabe) for the past 50 years after getting to know him better at WIU. He and Rich Bonkoski were best friends and Dave was so good to Rich during Rich's fight with esophagus cancer many years ago. Dave was such a good guy. One of his passions was umpiring Little League games. He retired not long ago from a long career delivering mail for the USPS in Crystal Lake where he lived his whole life and got married kind of late in life to Judy 31 years ago. I think at our 20th reunion they were recognized as the latest newlyweds.
Dave's wife Judy called me to let me know he has battled lung cancer for the past year, diagnosed after our 50th reunion in Sept last year. He died in Hospice care 10/5/18 after a sudden severe downturn. Judy has lots of good family and friend support. I'm so glad I got to spend time with them at the 50th reunion. Judy said she will plan a memorial service in CL probably in Nov 2018.
